Become a sworn translator

This page tells you everything before you start an application: who's eligible, what we need from you, how long it takes, and what certified work pays. No account needed to read it.

You'll be asked to sign in first — the application autosaves as you go, so a dropped connection never loses your place.

Who's eligible

  • You hold a current registration as a Sworn/Legal Translator with the Sri Lanka Ministry of Justice — approval is checked against the published Register, not taken on your word.
  • You can translate at least one direction among Sinhala, Tamil and English — the three languages sworn certification covers today. (The platform itself already handles other languages for machine drafts; sworn certification starts with this trio and grows from there.)
  • You can produce the three items below in a legible photo or scan.

What we need from you

Three documents, each required once. You'll photograph or upload these on the application form — the same three names appear there and in every letter we send you.

  1. 1

    MoJ certificate / registration evidence

Your Ministry of Justice gazette notice or registration card — this is what we check against the published Register of Sworn Translators before approving an application.

Flat and well lit, no glare — every printed line and number legible, all four corners in the frame. A colour photo or a PDF both work; a screenshot of a screenshot doesn't.
  2. 2

    Specimen signature

The signature you'll use on certified translations — kept on file so a signed document can later be checked against it.

Sign on plain white paper in dark ink, then photograph it straight-on and close so the signature isn't stretched or shadowed.
  3. 3

    ID document

Your NIC or passport photo page — confirming you are the person named on the registration certificate.

The whole card or page in frame, text and photo both sharp, no finger covering a corner, no flash glare sitting over the printed details.

How long it takes

We usually get back to you within 3–5 working days of a complete application — sooner if nothing's missing, longer if we have to ask you for something first.

If we need something better — a clearer photo, a missing corner — we'll tell you exactly what, and you only resend that one thing.

What certified work pays

Rs 1,200.00per certification — a flat, published rate, the same for every sworn translator.

This applies to certified-tier work — where you apply your own seal and signature. Not everything on the bench is paid the same way; some review work carries no fee.

There isn't a fixed payment schedule yet — we'll tell you the schedule before your first payment is due.

Ready when you are — the form saves as you go, on your phone or your laptop.
