Birth certificate translation in Sri Lanka: prepare and review
Prepare a birth certificate for translation in Sri Lanka. Check names, dates, registration details, scan quality and the recipient’s certification requirements.
Ask for the recipient’s instructions first
For birth certificate translation in Sri Lanka, begin with the organisation that will receive the translation. Ask which language it needs, whether it requires a translator’s signature and whether the original or a particular kind of copy must accompany the translation.
This guide is a preparation checklist for a translation request, not an assurance that one format will be accepted everywhere. Keeping the recipient’s instructions with your files makes it easier to explain the request and avoid choosing the wrong service.
Provide a complete, readable source
Upload the full certificate rather than a crop of the main text. Look for entries near the edges, notes on the reverse and amendments or stamps that form part of the record. If a field is faint or damaged, tell the reviewer rather than replacing it with a guess.
If you have several certificates in the same household, keep them clearly separated and named. Similar names and dates can make it easy to compare the translation against the wrong source. Use the correct document for each request.
- Check that all relevant pages and reverse sides are present.
- Make sure handwriting and small reference numbers can be read.
- Keep the source file unchanged so corrections can be traced back to it.
Review identity fields in a separate pass
Check the person’s name, parent names, dates, place names and registration details individually. Where a spelling is already established in a related record that will be submitted with the certificate, make that reference available to the translator.
Dates deserve their own check: a registration date and a date of birth are not interchangeable. Read each date together with its field label. Do the same for numbers—an accurate number beside the wrong heading still produces an inaccurate document.
After checking the fields, read the whole translation once more for missing notes or inconsistent terminology. Do not silently resolve differences between two original records; raise the discrepancy so the intended handling can be confirmed.
Choose and verify the requested service
On Translate, add the certificate and choose its source and target languages. Review the available quote and select sworn review if a translator’s review and signature are required. A digitally sealed machine draft is a different option, so check the choice before continuing.
When the work is ready, compare the final files with the source and use the certificate’s serial number or QR code to view its verification record where available. Keep the recipient’s instructions and the files together for submission. If anything is unclear, ask support before placing the order.
